If you feel overwhelmed, you are certainly not alone. Recent data highlights the scale of what many of us are privately enduring:
Mental health conditions now account for 52% of all work-related ill-health cases in Great Britain, making it the primary driver of workplace illness
Recent reports indicate that
91% of UK adults experienced high or extreme levels of pressure or stress in the last year
Women are 25% more likely to report work-related stress and mental health issues than men
Stress doesn’t always look like a sudden crisis; it is often the slow, quiet fading of the person you used to be. You might be experiencing:
The "Wired but Tired" Loop: Exhaustion all day, yet a brain that runs a marathon of "what-ifs" the moment your head hits the pillow
The Invisible Weight: A constant tightness in your chest or shoulders that never truly goes away, even on your days off
The Emotional Hair-Trigger: Snapping at loved ones or feeling overwhelmed by "small" things because your internal cup is already full
The Mental Fog: Feeling as though you are moving through treacle, where making simple decisions feels like a monumental task
Photo by www.kaboompics.comThe Physical Alarm: Do you have a "background" physical symptom that won't go away? (e.g., a tight jaw, shallow breathing, a persistent knot in your stomach or tension headaches).
The Joy Gap: When was the last time you felt truly present and enjoyed a moment without your mind drifting to a "to-do" list or a worry?
The Sleep Shadow: Do you wake up feeling unrefreshed or find that your "internal motor" starts running the second you stop for the evening?
The Fuse Length: Are you reacting more intensely to small inconveniences (like a red light or a spilled drink) than you used to?
The Withdrawal: Do you find yourself making excuses to avoid social plans or "switching off" from conversations because you simply don't have the mental energy to engage?
If you ticked 3 or more of these, your body is likely in a state of chronic "High Alert." This is exactly what we work through at 7 Purple Feathers.
You Don’t Have to Wait for a Breaking Point
The theme for Stress Awareness Month 2026 is #BeTheChange. It is a call to move from feeling powerless to taking small, meaningful actions for your own wellbeing.
At The Natural Mind Practice, I provide the space for that change to begin. You don’t need to have the perfect words to describe how you feel and you don’t need a complex plan. You just need to know that this state of exhaustion isn’t "just the way life is."
It’s okay to put the heavy lifting down for a moment
If you recognise yourself in these statistics, I’m here to listen. There is no pressure, just a safe, confidential space where you don’t have to pretend to be "fine."
To support the #BeTheChange movement during Stress Awareness Month, I am offering a 10% discount on all paid sessions booked throughout April 2026.
Mention code 0426STRESS during our initial chat to claim 10% off your first paid session block.
It is completely natural to have questions before starting something new. Here are the things people most often ask me before our first session:
How many sessions will I need? There is no "one size fits all" answer, as everyone’s experience with stress is unique. Some people find that 3 sessions provide the practical tools they need to navigate a specific high-pressure period. Others prefer longer-term support to unpick deeper, more ingrained patterns of burnout or chronic "over-functioning." We will review our progress regularly to ensure the pace feels right for you. This will all be discussed at the complimentary consultation
Is what I say confidential? Absolutely. Your privacy is my priority. Everything we discuss is confidential, held within a safe and professional space. The only rare exception would be if I were seriously concerned about your safety or the safety of someone else, this is a standard professional requirement that I will discuss with you clearly during our first meeting.
Do I need a formal diagnosis from my GP? No, you don’t. While some people come to me with a clinical diagnosis of work-related stress or exhaustion, many others simply feel "off," stuck or constantly on edge. You don't need a medical label to deserve support. If you feel that stress is limiting your life, that is reason enough to seek help.
What if I feel too overwhelmed to talk during the session? That is perfectly okay. I am trained to work with exactly that feeling. We can take things as slowly as you need. You remain in control of the pace at all times.
